The History of Programming Languages
At first, people used machine language. It was only 0 and 1, so it was very hard to write. To make it easier, assembly language was created.
But assembly language was different for each CPU, so it was still difficult. Then, high-level languages like FORTRAN and COBOL were made. They used English-like words, so more people could write programs.
However, early high-level languages often used GOTO statements, which made programs hard to read. To fix this, structured programming was created, and languages like C became popular.
In C language, data and functions were separate, so managing large programs was difficult. To solve this, object-oriented programming (OOP) was introduced. C++ and Java used this idea.
But OOP languages were often long and complex, so scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, and Ruby were made. They were easier to write and understand.
Later, computers needed faster and safer programming. New languages like Rust, Go, and Swift were created. These languages help programmers write better and more secure code.
Programming languages continue to evolve to make coding easier, faster, and safer!
